Jimmy, we celebrated your oldest sister’s 6th birthday this weekend, and I was hoping to get a picture of you with her. But my prediction from last week failed, and I got this one, instead. You’re still sleeping pretty well and have managed to make pretty much everybody you’ve met fall in love with you instantly. I think that’s some baby superpower that you all grow out of by the time you’re 5, so enjoy it while you can!
This past weekend was Father’s Day, and while this isn’t the best picture I took this weekend, I think it’s the best of you and me. And it’s a selfie (it kind of irritates me that “selfie” is a real word – maybe by the time you read this it won’t be). You continue to sleep well (although as I type this your mother let me know you woke up again, so that may be changing!). Next weekend we’re going to be celebrating your oldest sister’s 6th birthday, so I predict that a picture of you and her will be making an appearance here.
Jimmy, you’ve been an easy baby for the first week. Either that or after four kids we’re finally getting used to this parenting thing. I’d bet on the prior.
But the first week wouldn’t have gone nearly so smoothly without a lot of help from both sets of grandparents. Kate and I are both grateful for the help that we’ve gotten from our family. We couldn’t do it without them!
Once, again, I’m going to use the birth of a child to do a year-long photo project. I’m going to post one picture each week Jimmy’s first year. I did it for Lucy, Mary, and Kate did the same thing for Simon during his first year.
The rules will be the same. The goal will be to post a new picture from the previous week on Sunday or Monday evening each week. The picture will preferably be taken over the weekend so the spacing between them will be similar, but I’m not going to box myself in if we get a good picture from a different day.
James (I’m still figuring out what I’m going to call you), you gave us quite a build-up. Your mom was having contractions for about 3 days, and then they really ramped up the night before you were born. We got to the hospital and your delivery (via c-section) was delayed due to complications in the delivery of another baby in line before you (as far as we know, that baby and mom were fine!). We were so glad to FINALLY meet you!
