Say what you like about Microsoft and their products, but it seems that their founder is a genuinely good-hearted human being. I know it is (seemingly) easier to give money when you’ve got lots of it available, but I feel like Bill and his wife Melinda really go above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to their philanthropy. It appears that they really want to work to get at the root of some of the societal problems that are the cause of much of the poverty in the world.

With his concept of “creative capitalism”, Gates encourages business leaders to creatively use market incentives to bring the benefits of scientific, medical, and technological advances to those who need it most: the poor. I have no idea how the business/economics of that will work, and how it will be profitable for businesses (the driving force behind capitalism, right?), but I certainly admire the sentiment.

I’m not in the market for a car, but when I am, this guy seems to have a fair amount of good advice.

I have had “Hot Potato” stuck in my head all day. And now you can too:

Enjoy!

Today I present you with another installment of Talents That I Don’t Have. Namely, artistic talent. This Daily Monster feature by a fellow named Stefan G. Bucher is fascinating. There are tons of these on YouTube, but I picked one that I found particularly fun to post here. Check him out.

I’m pretty sure that I’m way late on this particular Internet phenomenon. But if I hadn’t seen it until recently, maybe some of you haven’t, either. This is O.K. Go’s video for their song “Here It Goes Again”.

And this is the parody by Nobody’s Watching.

Incidentally, if you’re a fan, their LOST video is pretty funny too. And yes, apparently that really is Maggie Grace.

My life is boring. Watch this and reminisce.

I think this is really encouraging, because eventually they’ll just be like two whirling dervishes tearing through the house knocking over plants breaking glasses, and generally causing all sorts of mayhem. But for now it’s just flat-out cute. As always when I post a movie, this is a large file. Those with dial-up connections will only run into frustration trying to view it. Sorry!

This is actually a good deal smaller than the video that came off of our camera (120MB). But the quality has suffered noticeably with the compression.

This is like a flashback to any number of weddings that I’ve been to, including my own (minus a certain dance in the middle which was forbidden). Link via Christine.
