Kate reminded me to take pictures for Picture of the Week, since she was going to be in New York with the kids and I was going to be in Seattle. She also reminded me to actually pull the pictures off the camera and write a post. Which I. . . forgot to do. So now I’m stuck in Seattle with the pictures on the camera and no way to process and upload them, since I shot in RAW. This is where Rich chastises me for not shooting JPEG.

Anyway, in lieu of a Mary picture of the week, I give you our most recent family pictures (old news to those of you on facebook).

Family Portrait

Due to popular demand, here are the first four pictures of Mary and our family. I would be posting more, but I’m having issues with the Flickr uploader and am needed back at the hospital. More to come!

The New Arrival
Proud Big Brother!
Proud Mama
Proud Papa

Pfff! What’s that? Wait a week for the scheduled c-section?! Not our Mary. Kate went into labor around 1PM today and delivered Mary via uneventful c-section this evening. Mary’s doing well, with just a teeny bit of respiratory distress that they’re keeping an eye on. Nothing to be worried about, they assure us. Kate is also doing well, but is probably why her husband is blogging instead of waiting on her hand and foot. BACK to the hospital I go! More later (with pictures!).

Mary Florence Campbell

Born June 25, 2008 @6:26PM

Weight: 8lbs 5oz

Length: TBA (I don’t remember)

My brother Murray on the new camera:

it’s not the camera, its the beauty of the ppl you take pictures of

so just make sure i’m in every picture and they’ll all look like professional, HQ crystal clear masterpieces”

He’s humble, that kid.

Campbell Baby #2's Sonogram PictureKate had her 20-week sonogram yesterday. I’m not even going to make you play the guessing game this time. Baby Campbell number two is a GIRL.

This means that I’ll have my very own little girl to dote on, and can stop vicariously doting on other people’s kids. Kate is concerned that I’ll let a little girl walk all over me. That is definitely not the case. I won’t give her every little thing she asks for. Unless she asks REALLY nicely. Then I’ll have to. I mean, seriously. How can you say “no” when your daughter asks you REALLY NICELY for something? Heck, I have a hard time saying no to Simon when he asks really nicely, and he’s a boy. Simon, if you read this in the future, rest assured that this is all in jest and I love you just as much as your baby sister.

For those who are sure to ask, no we do not have a name picked out. When we do we’re not telling. We have to keep some level of suspense.

Baby CampbellIn an attempt to further combat our increasing tolerance to the cuteness levels in our lives, we decided to up the ante. So on or around July 4th 2008, we’re upgrading to toddler, dog, and INFANT. Simon says that he wants a sister, and he wants her to be named “Pretty Girl”. We’ll take whatever God provides and be ridiculously happy, boy or girl.

I’m so glad that I’m finally able to share this news, as sitting on it was killing me. We’re really, really happy, of course. Although Kate’s happiness is somewhat tempered by the crippling “morning” sickness that has accompanied this pregnancy. Let’s go with All Day and All Night Sickness (ADANS) from now on, shall we? Because that’s what it is. It’s been a bit better the last week or so, but Kate basically had to write off December and half of November to being crippled by nausea.

And in an only slightly related observation, compare the sonogram above to Simon’s 8-week sonogram here. Either technology has come a long way in the last 2 years, or our OB got some nice new equipment.

I just wanted to let everybody who may be following the Virginia Tech tragedy know that Murray (my brother who is a student at Virginia Tech) and Matthew (Tim’s brother, also at VT) are both fine. Thank you to everybody who has contacted me expressing their concern.

Please keep all the victims, their families, and friends in your prayers.

We rearranged some furniture in our house, and Kate is redecorating our family room. As part of her redecorating efforts, we are creating a wall of old family pictures, reminiscent of those in our parents homes. Over the years we have raided the photo stashes of our parents and grandparents. I picked up a lot of photos when my grandfather passed away in 2004. It was a very therapeutic process, and I found and scanned a few pictures of him and my grandmother from back in the day.

I spent the evening printing photos for the wall and putting all the old photos we currently have in a set on flickr.

One of the neat things about my parents photo wall that we liked was the pictures of them as kids, so we tried to find baby pictures of me and Kate when we were approximately the same age (she’s 18 months, I’m 2 years). So. Who do YOU think Simon looks like?
