The season is almost here. The Hokies start the season with a huge game against #5 Alabama in Atlanta, GA on September 5 (8:00PM, ABC) . If this doesn’t get you excited for the game, nothing will.

Because this week’s CSA photo was so pathetic, I thought I’d share some pics from a previous dish that we made with our CSA food. The only CSA item in this dish was the peaches. The blueberries were a supermarket special. The “mint” garnish is really basil from our garden. Next year I’m planting mint just to use as dessert garnish. The recipe is from The Art of Simple Food, by Alice Waters.

I’m really not happy with this week’s picture. Boring, hazy, and generally uninteresting. Exposure and white balance are a little off, and I didn’t have the wherewithal to fix it in post. As an apology, a bonus week 9 post is forthcoming.

Classic Freestone Peaches

We got the fun flat “donut” peaches in this week’s delivery. I was going to put them on the bottom of the fruit basket and see if I could convince Simon that they got “squished” by the other fruit, but he saw them before I could pull my practical joke.

Yeah, I got a bit behind in my produce adventures. Additionally, I don’t really have an shots of any of the actual DISHES we ate, so this is purely a catch-up post. Below are the haul from the last three weeks.
broccoli
lettuce
parsley
snow peas
spring onions
collard greens
broccoli
beets
green onions
peas
One difficulty in doing this CSA project are the ravenous beats (read: children) that live in my house. This week’s shipment contained more apricots, plums, and peaches than are shown here, but the little rascals got to them before I could get home from work and snap a picture.

Sick on her birthday, but she still enjoyed her cake!
This is the final picture in the Mary Weekly set. As with Simon, the majority of Mary pictures from now on will be flagged Friends and Family only on Flickr. If you’d like to keep tabs on Mary and aren’t already a friend/family on flickr, let me know!

On a stool, next to the oven. . . nothing good can come of this. She’s definitely one.
This weekly photo was delayed both in it’s taking (taken on Monday 6/21) and it’s posting due to sickness. Now SHE’s the one who’s sick, on her BIRTHDAY. One more picture to go, hopefully at her party on Saturday. My poor baby. Happy Birthday, sweetie.
