Things I take for granted: my commute.

I spent 1.5 hours (each way) getting to and from DC today for a meeting. I get to do the same thing tomorrow. This is NOT my normal commute. My normal commute is 5 miles against traffic and it takes me about 15 minutes in the morning and 20-30 minutes in the evening. It is unbelieveable, and I really do take it for granted.

So here’s to me not bitching about my two days in DC. Cheers.

  1. Welcome to my world!! You do realize that this often describes your wife’s commute, too, don’t you?

  2. Taking Java Swing classes in Rosslyn taught me to appreciate my commute. Going from Sterling to Chantilly via 7 to 28 is still faster-and-shorter than Fairfax County to Lawyers to Vienna, Metro from Vienna to Rosslyn.

There’s perks to the longer commute. DC’s far more entertaining and has better restaurants than Chantilly does.

Enjoy your two days in DC… we all miss you here in the office. [insert-smiley-here]

  3. The commute times in DC are ridiculous. My commute down here is about 15 minutes “door-to-desk” each way. It would be less if my freaking office wasn’t in the middle of the building.

  4. Hey, I work in DC and I only have a 15 minute commute. 30 minutes if I walk. 😉
